Jason Domino had sex without a condom with a fellow star with HIV to make a point.

He knew the actor wasn’t on any anti-viral medication and had a high viral load. A viral load is a metric for how much HIV is found in someone’s blood. Jason told OutNews Global: “I knew I wouldn’t get HIV. I chose to do this to reinforce confidence that PrEP works even in “high risk” events.

“My scene partner was about to try his new medication and had a high Viral Load at the time.”

Jason filmed knowing that without PrEP he’d be extremely likely to get HIV.

“Rather than encouraging people to be irresponsible, our aim was to help people to see each other as people, not as risks"

Medical professionals do not suggest anybody should test the effectiveness of ant-viral drugs in the same way, but Jason says his experiment wasn’t supposed to make other people follow his lead: “Rather than encouraging people to be irresponsible, our aim was to help people to see each other as people, not as risks, thanks to medical developments.

“We also wanted to replace ideological prevention strategies with accurate details, for people to make informed decisions around. If people stopped being so reluctant to talk about HIV, they’d hear more major updates. Sometimes something unusual helps the conversation start.”

Jason has set up Porn4PrEP to raise awareness…as well as heart rates

Jason has spoken at the United Nations, on primetime BBC News and has featured in articles for the New Scientist, Huffington post, and Dazed and he is on the “IMPACT” PrEP trial’s advisory board. He told OutNews Global: “I live as a public example for sexual health, a VERY public example. It was important to do what I did because denying a porn actor a voice is a public validation of slut shaming.

“The fact that we can’t talk about sex transparently is people sticking to their comfort zones, often embarrassed to reveal their personal details and thoughts.”
