ABOUT THIS HIKE: Mount Seymour is one of the most popular, and also, most beautiful hikes in the Lower Mainland.  Trail access is at the north end of the top parking lot at the Mt. Seymour ski area.  While this is a well used trail, expect some muddy areas and a few patches of snow.  Slabs of bold granite line the peak of this mountain, and several easy gulches will be ascended to reach the top.  No technical climbing skills are required.  The summit affords spectacular views in all directions.

HOW TO GET TO MOUNT SEYMOUR:

The trail to Mount Seymour is accessible from the downhill ski area parking lot at Seymour in North Vancouver. To reach the parking lot, drive east to the Trans Canada Highway (Highway #1) and enter the highway heading westbound. Continue across the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge (Second Narrows) and take Exit #22, Mt. Seymour Parkway, shortly after crossing the bridge. At the set of lights, turn right onto Mt. Seymour Parkway and continue along the parkway for about 4 km until you reach the traffic lights and small shopping area at Mt. Seymour Road. Turn left onto Mt. Seymour Road and continue straight as the road begins to climb up Mount Seymour for the next 13 km. Park at the far end of the parking lot near a wooden signboard with a map of the area. Don't forget to buy a parking ticket.

If interested, please send an e-mail to  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by Friday, AUGUST 05 to allow time for carpool organization.  Please indicate whether you need or can provide transportation.

Call for Models for an LGBTQ Smoking Cessation Campaign

You oughta be in pictures!

Smoking rates in LGBTQ communities are almost twice as high as those in the broader population. Causes for high than average rates include marginalization, internalized homophobia/bi-phobia/trans-phobia, stigmatization, and isolation. In addition, the LGBTQ community has been specifically targeted by the tobacco industry.

Rainbow Health Ontario is working with The Public on a province-wide initiative to help lower smoking rates in our communities.

The call:

We are looking for models for our campaign to help encourage and empower LGBTQ-identified folk to quit smoking.

Photos will be used on printed materials like posters and postcards as well as on the web.

Model Requirements:

We need approximately 12-15 models to make this campaign shine. We're looking for a diverse group of people, in terms of gender, sexual identity, age, body size, dis/ability and race. You can apply alone, with friends or with a partner.

Photographs will be taken in a comfortable environment with a professional photographer who will make sure you feel relaxed and have a good time.

Poses require that your face, or part of your face, be shown. No nudity required.

When:

xguest1

The photoshoot will take place outdoors on a weekend in July, in downtown Toronto. A $50 honorarium will be provided.

Please send a headshot and/or full body shot and a paragraph (with contact info) describing your interest and your weekend availability in July, no later than 5pm on Friday June 24th. Only selected models will be contacted.
